Set my Spirit Free at Midnite....another recent poem of mine.

Set my Spirit Free
release my capture
at Midnight......
free my reins
let me run wild
with abandon
and untamed
in moonlights glow....

Calling to the Universe
to roam
to wherever
my spirit seeks
to the calling
of the wild....

To carry
no one's
heavy burdens
upon my back
ever again....
for I've spent
a lifetime
with the weight
and whip
upon me....
No more
will I bow down
nor follow
someone else's directions.....
for my path
is now free
to run wild
to roam......
Clearly I see
but I feel to know.....
for the good red road
is now calling me
to mother earth
and to father sky.....

I now seek
the path to home
where I've always belonged....

Set my Spirit free
at midnight
beckoning me
to Freedoms shores
and to the call of the wild.

This is a fantastic poem, Rhi! Thank you so much. I understand it, esp coming from you, and I love it. The horses are beautiful. Just a quick note to acknowledge this as I have to get ready to drive 2 hrs to see Jeff's sister and nephew ... in hopes of not being badgered this time like in July ;oD ... His BD is 11/4 and hers is 11/6 ... and I'm giving him one of my Native American bookends with a hatchet buried in a block of wood with feathers sculpted into the handle ;oD "Bury the hatchet" is appropriate, eh?
Hope your Friday 10/30 was good!
Happy Halloween!
LOVE this poem...can I make a copy?
Just for me...SisSTAR xo

Feels good, doesn't it? Freedom
Your poetry is yours alone and has a distinctive flow to it.

You are back, in style.

Great poem Rhi. I've tried posting here before but for some reason I can't get accepted. Try, try again. How are you? Well I hope? Frances

It's a breathtaking poem Rhi! And I see the correlation between the weighted burdens people force upon other people to carry, and the same they force upon a horse's back, forcing both to bow down and carry them in their direction, until one day both are set free in spirit. At lease that is my take The photo is beautiful!

That midnight spirit seems to be flowing freely from you now, Rhi. This was majestic and along with the glorious photo (thanks for suggesting enlarging it) it makes a powerful and hopeful statement to the universe.
