Eyes Have.....

This is a poem I wrote the first year of my blog in 2005. Thought I'd share some of my older poems from the first year I started my blog...since I've not time to post or write new ones right now....I hope you'll enjoy some of my older poems I will be posting for some of you that have maybe not been around to have read them. Hope you enjoy this one. I drew the eye also. I love drawing eyes...been doing that since I was just a child sitting in school in class drawing eyes all over my notebook pages..:o)

Eyes have shut
and blocked you out
Eyes have opened
and seen nothing but doubt
Eyes have cried tears
never knowing where to start
Eyes have looked through a soul
and its broken heart
Eyes have looked away
with nothing to say
Eyes have softly closed the door
and run away
Eyes have expressed words
through shadows of despair
Eyes have hid in a room
empty and bare
Eyes have flooded with pain
and sorrow all the while
Eyes have been cleansed through a tear
so clear......

This is very nice! I also love drawing eyes I always have to finish the eyes first on a portrait. Its a good idea to show some of your old poems, when I first set up my blog I had no links so no one seen all my best rhymes so I am thinking of doing the same.

My super-talented friend. Deep in thoughts and you can articulate the words so well in your poem.

Eyes are so intriguing... the windows to the soul. And you drew it so beautifully.

Hope you had a great time at Thanksgiving. Here's to a wonderful weekend!

lovely poem but it made me smile. it would take too long, but if you knew what has happened to my vision you would understand. :)

Hi Rhi!

I reached from Andrew's blog...
seemed some serious discussion...not able to make that out...

But i loved the poem..eyes are windows to the soul...even if vision has problems..

i can see, Nick saying that his best rhymes are in the archives...then that is where I should be..at every blog, i felt it...the best lies hidden in the archives :)

anyway, this seems a good place to be..infact long back i had noted and wanted to visit here...time was perhaps only right now :)

wishes, Rhi

Your post touched my heart and made me a bit sad but I understand a bit of what you are going through. For many years I have suffer from depression and came close to being homeless but by the grace of friends I was saved from the streets. I am also on ss disability and have not worked for three years now. Many times I have been close to suicide but by the grace of friends and a God that I have yet to make my peace with was I save. For me poetry and art is work but the government doesn’t seem to think that being a no name poet is being gainfully employed. My heart goes out to you. I fancied about winning the lottery and helping as many people as I can and such a kind soul as you have been place on my list. In the era of Bush my list has grown long; there are so many people in need in the wealthiest country in the western world. It is just a shame the way we allow the poor such as you and I and many more beside to fall through the crack. People are losing their home left and right and the American dream have been placed out of their reach. Obama carries a heavy load on his shoulders and I think that it will take two terms to put this country back on the tracks but if you look at the last 20 years of our lives I think that the tracks need to be relayed toward a more humane and caring direction. This country should be a shame of itself that we don’t have universal heath care. If it was not for the VA I would not be able to afford my meds. I know that many people are not as bless as me who have served this country and can get free health care. The VA shows that free heath care can work in this country. I know that given your situation it may be a hard thing to do but be brave. You have the soul of an artist despite all that have gone on in your life, as living without a family support system still you are bless although be it a bitter sweet blessing. It may not seem so but you are, and I count myself bless also to know that such a kind soul as yours is alive in the world. I know that a sense of helplessness can creep into both of our situation but against all odds we must keep on keeping on and it will be hard there is no doubt about that but if we have nothing else we have our art. I know that our art does not pay the bills but we can not give up on art. Here I woke and went out for a smoke and found that the first snow of the season was falling; it’s a small snow that only covers the grass. I stood there listening to the silent that snow makes and as I stood there it was hard to believe that the world was so full of misery. Please give my regards to the friends that have taken you in and tell them may the blessing that they have shown to you come back to them three-fold.

Love David

I knew a girl in high school who was always drawing horses (Iris) and I wonder whatever became of her. Thru you I can imagine that she is still drawing horses and writing poetry to her thoughts. Thanks for showing it again; I was not blogging back then.

I guess you know that eyes are the portal to the soul.

Your drawing of the eye blew me away! Looks so real, like a photograph with a layer of artistic graphic design. You're extremely talented, dear. This drawing could be on the cover of a novel. ;) And it is certainly a fitting complement to the moving poem. Hoping you are doing well. Much care and blessings.
