Christmas in my Soul
I love my country
as it dies
in war and pain
before my eyes
I walk the streets
where disrespect has been
the sins of politics
the politics of sin
the heartlessness
that darkens my soul
on Christmas
Red and Silver
on the leaves
fallen white snow
runs softly through the trees
Madonnas weep
for wars of hell
they blow out the candles
and haunt Noel
the missing love
that rings through the world
on Christmas
Black panther brother's
bound in jail
Chicago seven
and the Justice scale
Homeless Indian
of Manhattan Isle
all Gods sons
have gone to trial
and all Gods love
is out of stlye
on Christmas ...
Now the time has come to fight
laws in the book of love burn bright
people you must win
for thee...America
her dignity
for all the high court world to see
on Christmas..
Christmas in my soul
Christmas in my soul
Christmas in my soul...
Joy to the world...........

Kinda dark, but ends on a good note.
Hope your new year is full of nice surprises.
Goatman...it's "kind of dark" because this song came to my mind about what is happening in our country right now. I see more "dark" than "light" and the trump "era" is a very very dangerous road we are going down. However I do have "hope" for us to wake up from all these horrific things going on...the hate, the meanness, a very mentally unstable president, where the staff in the white house continue to "enable" this monster as our president...when they know better. So..the lyrics from this Laura Nyro song kept coming to my mind "I love my country as it dies in war and pain before my eyes, the sins of politics the politics of sin" is to me what is exactly going on right now in this country..Too many people are looking away, not addressing it, or thinking they don't have to speak up, even though they are afraid I have been watching way too many people "pretending" and I don't like that...I saw this coming years ago. My next door neighbor said "no one looks one another in the eyes anymore so afraid and not speaking up"..this is true.. When I bring Trump up, most people look around them, to make sure no one heard me...they look afraid, then they make a sigh of "relief" and say "Oh God, it's so horrible thank God you brought it up, I'm "safe" to talk to you about it"...what does this say about us? I see a fascist in the white house..I'm so ashamed of our country..but I will keep speaking up...even if someone starts yelling at me or telling me off...got to keep my courage...don't want our country to turn into nazi germany. Enough said..
