Freedoms Flight......

I'm posting some poems I wrote when I first started my blog back in 2005. Here is one for you. I won first prize in a poetry contest for this one. I hope you enjoy it.

Freedoms Flight

Oh, if I had wings of flight
I would fly away
like an eagle soaring
above all of the endless chaos below me...
it would never touch me
I would never feel it again...
I'd be light,
my spirit free
wings soaring
through endless blue sky....
white soft clouds
would adorn me
in golden sunlight
wrapping me in the warm rapture
of freedoms endless flight.

wonderful! I wish I could fly, too. :)
I can see why it came in 1st.
(I listened to The Doors years ago - you have me wanting to go get a CD. :)

He he...I have just about every album and or cd by the doors there is available, along with Jim's second edition book of his poetry. Which includes his last writings (most showing his own handwriting of each poem) and poems toward the end of his life in Paris.

I'm happy you enjoyed the poem Andrew..thank you.

I have one of his books -- forgot until you talked about them. I saw his grave in Paris, too -- I was there to see Chopin.

My "dream" is to one day go to the French countryside(I've never been to Europe only Japan) and then Paris to see Jim's grave.

I met Jim once as I knew one of his girlfriends (she went to my H.S.) and the doors had just gotten their first hit light my fire and they came to do a concert at our school. I met him then in the back of the gym..she introduced us. He was in his black leather and he was actually quite the gentlemen upon our of those unforgettable moments..he kissed my hand and bowed..he he..yes he really did.

Some memories you just never forget!

I hope that it is never to late to congratulate you for this beautiful piece of work.

Yes. If only we can get way from it all. Untouched and free... the world is open wide to us... but alas, we have go come back down to the ground to rest.

Have a good week ahead.

"Break on Through to the Other Side"

Nice flow on this poem. I kept getting tangled in the electrical lines when I could fly but sometimes could rise above and soar through the branches, or above even.

" the warm rapture of freedom's endless flight" -- Soul's true home.

And as Horses run wild and free -- we too always retain that youth and liberty in our most sacred dream.
